OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAChildrenWe welcome children who are an integral part of St Augustine’s Church.

Encouraging spirituality and faith in children and young people is a priority.

We have a very active Sunday School for children from the age of three during the weekly Mass, where they are taught the basics of the Anglican faith with fun craft and drama activities.

On the first Sunday of the month, the children remain in Church for an All-Age service.

The Sunday School

Approximately seventy children are on the Sunday School register, divided by age into three groups. We try to provide a supportive, nurturing and fun environment for them to explore issues of faith and community.

After Confirmation, many teenagers remain to assist in teaching the younger children and undertake various activities within the Sunday Service.

The services are child-friendly, and young people are actively encouraged to be servers, read in Church, welcome people into Church, and sing in the choir. We provide a children’s library where the children sit in the Church.

imageThe monthly All-Age Eucharist is lively and engaged yet calm and focused. The simplified liturgy is based on the standard structure, with its seasonal diversity, and has a delightful quality of freedom and flexibility.

Acts of worship at the Church require a priest who is relaxed with children and knows – or is willing to learn – how to make worship enjoyable and relevant to their experience.
